Preston Community Hub

Our Food Bank

Supporting our community. Reducing food waste.

At Preston Community Hub, we run a Food Bank to support local people who are struggling with the cost of food. The service helps ensure that good food is shared with those who need it, rather than going to waste.

Our Food Bank is welcoming, respectful, and focused on supporting people during difficult times.

What is a Food Bank?

The Food Bank provides access to surplus food donated by local businesses, organisations, and individuals. Instead of being thrown away, this food is made available to people in our community who need extra support.

People using the Food Bank can access a range of food items, including:

  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Dairy products
  • Baked goods
  • Store cupboard essentials

Food is available for a small fee, which helps us cover running costs and continue supporting the community.

More Than Just Food

The Food Bank is about more than food. It helps to:

  • Support individuals and families facing financial hardship
  • Reduce food waste
  • Promote dignity and fairness
  • Strengthen community connections

By sharing resources, we help reduce hunger and support wellbeing in our local area.

How does it work?

  • Surplus food is donated by local businesses and individuals
  • Our volunteers check, sort, and store all food in line with food safety standards
  • People who are on benefits or experiencing financial difficulty are welcome to use the Food Bank during opening hours

We aim to make the service accessible, supportive, and non-judgemental.

Our Commitment

We believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food, regardless of their circumstances. The Food Bank plays an important role in tackling food poverty and building a stronger, more caring community.
